Since the establishment of the Municipality of Cherahil in 1985, the Municipal Council has evolved in its composition to keep pace with the area's population growth and urban expansion.

The Municipal Council of Cherahil consists of the Mayor, assisted by a number of Deputy Mayors and Municipal Councillors. It is responsible for managing local affairs, making decisions related to municipal development, improving public services, preserving the environment, and maintaining public facilities, in accordance with the powers granted to it under the applicable legislation.
